Funny enough I realised that I quite like Art déco, as soon as I entered the city. I am not the most perceptive person when it comes to architecture and art, I am afraid. But this here is georgious. At the same time it seems to my untrained eye like the pastell-coloured version of the third Reich buildings in Germany, which did come into existence at the same period. They are just grey and much more martial.

Mal wieder recht überraschend habe ich festgestellt, dass Art Déco meins ist. Die Häuserfassaden sind wunderschön, Bonbonartiges gemischt mit Lichtern und Glas. Ich war mal wieder völlig unvorbereitet 🙂 Erstaunlich finde ich, dass die Gebäude alle um 1933 (Beginn der Krise in D) entstanden sind und mich manche der verwendeten Elemente stark and die Nazi-Architektur der 30er Jahre erinnern. Ohne die zuckersüße Farbe natürlich und gigantisch groß. Aber vielleicht täusche ich mich da.
